the joy of mysteries

I am a huge fan of art-o-mat art. As much as I like the originality of the art, I think it is the surprise of what your five dollars will get you. Will it be a sculpture? A black and white picture? Or a really crappy clothes pin with some letters glued to it? No matter what, it is great.

Well, this past weekend in Madison, me and some friends picked up a grab bag from the Exclusive Company. For $4.00, we got a bag full of stuff. The magical bag of mystery held some crappy cds and a Better than Ezra cd, tickets to a concert at the rave, guitar picks and seeds. You might think it was a waste of money, but the anticipation and joy we had opening it up made it worth it.

Oh and the rest of the weekend was great. Lots of laughs (Christy and Kelly), good food (Great Dane), drinks (Brocach) and dessert (Brocach). Shopping on State Street. Little Luxuries is my new favorite store with their Lug bag collection. Another successful visit to Madison!

ho-hum winter blahs

This winter has not been fun. We have had too much snow and way too cold weather for my liking. Christmas was good. I enjoyed visiting family and friends so much that upon returning to La Crosse, I felt home sick. Weird, right? I never get home sick. However, a visit from Christy which turned into a relaxing weekend of laughing, west wing watching and scrabble playing, was just what I needed. Oh and planning a weekend in Madison to drink at the Dane, shop State Street and see grad school friends doesn't hurt the mood either. now, if only we can do away with the cold, i would be a happy camper again.
